Dr. Hicks Presents at Eastern Area Links, Inc. Conference in Norfolk, VA On April 15, 2005, Dr. Hicks presented chapter assessment tools and worked with Eastern Area chapters in utilizing those tools to become more effective in their respective communities. Click here to see the chapter assessment tools (in pdf format) Earlier in April, Dr. Hicks also facilitated a strategic planning session with the Cleveland Link Chapter. Through her organizational development experience and expertise, she was able to help guide the chapter’s strategic thinking as they look to the future.

OMG Holds Associate Meeting

On April 28, OMG held its first Associate Team Meeting of 2005. Dr. Patricia Larkins Hicks, OMG President shared organizational and operational updates; while Gretchen Feldmann, Organizational Development Director provided a breakdown on the current and future role of the Associate Team within OMG. OMG Serves as a Sponsor for the Shirley Chisholm Conference for Girls in Government

The Shirley Chisholm Conference for Girls in Government, held on April 27, 2005, provided an opportunity for young women to interact with female, elected officials and gain some insight into what being a community leader means to them. OMG’s sponsorship provided t-shirts for all of the young women who participated in the conference.

Dr. Hicks, First Vice President of National Hampton Alumni Association, Inc. Presides Over the 2005 Hampton University Class Reunion Festivities On May 7, 2005, Dr. Hicks presided over the festivities during the NHAA, Inc. 89th Annual Awards Banquet where reunion class presidents were pleased to present Hampton University with gifts in excess of $1 million. Dr. Hicks Authors an Essay in Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts & Sciences 50th Anniversary Essay Booklet

Dr. Hicks, who received the Outstanding Alumni Award in 1990 for her achievements in the communications field, was included in MSU’s College of Communication Arts & Sciences commemorative essay booklet. Her essay, “It’s About Our Data and Not Just Our Word,” was featured along with essays from other accomplished individuals who have excelled in their respective professions. Dr. Hicks is Appointed to the Small Business Council of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Hicks will join 25 other business owners in collaborating with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce to help guide Chamber policies and priorities. The Small Business Council is integral to the Columbus business community through its promotion, protection, and advocate efforts of the establishment, growth, and welfare of small businesses in the region. Additionally, through her role as a member, Dr. Hicks will communicate concerns and support state, area, and national legislation as it relates to the positive growth of small businesses.
