OMG DISCOVERS B.E.S.T. DRIVES RESULTS
Over the past sixteen years, OMG has worked with a variety of clients assisting them in achieving their desired results. During this time period, OMG conducted its research that focused on identifying the primary factors that facilitated organizations in achieving their desired outcomes. Data was examined from 125 organizations. These organizations represented various industries of which 50% were not-for-profit, 25% for-profit and 25% governmental.
Two key discoveries were identified. The first discovery was that people at all levels of the organization when focused on “being their B.E.S.T” were key drivers influencing the organization’s attainment of its results. This supports Jim Collins (2001) research which found people rather than strategy or plans were the primary factor that propelled an organization from “good to great.” The second discovery was around culture. All organizations had their culture. Additionally, the people who governed, lead, and worked at the organization brought their diverse cultures to the workplace. Culture impacted everything including communication, decision making, performance, team work, etc. Those organizational cultures that focused on “being their B.E.S.T.” achieved results. In fact, the key finding that emerged from these discoveries was that when the people at all levels of an organization and the organization focused on “being their B.E.S.T.”, the organization achieved optimal outcomes.
In June, 2010, OMG’s President published “Be Your B.E.S.T.” This book targets the people discovery and is designed to assist individuals in “being their B.E.S.T.” It provides a “Something to Think About” segment at the end of each chapter to connect the reader with the content from a practical perspective. Additionally, activities are included that the reader can engage in that facilitates putting the content into practice. In July, 2010 OMG released its “B.E.S.T. Culture Inventory.” This assessment tool targets the culture discovery and is designed to assist organizations in assessing their organizational culture. Inventory results provide a snapshot of the organization’s B.E.S.T. culture status. The data can be used to develop a B.E.S.T. plan that establishes a B.E.S.T. culture.
OMG is excited about its future and believes the “B.E.S.T. is yet to come!”
